The DTI, partnering with the Chartered Management Institute, conducted one of the largest ever studies of workers in the UK to ask them what inspired them to follow leaders. Inspirational Leadership : Insight to Action is based on these research findings and its purpose is to enable leaders to be clearer about their natural leadership styles and strengths so they can shape their roles and those of thir teams accordingly. The emphasis is to raise awareness of strengths in leadership.

The tool takes the form of an online questionnaire which forces you to make choices between paired leadership statements. The output is a comprehensive report which identifies relative leadership strengths across 4 dimensions (as per diagram) and 18 different attributes.
